🔥Quote/Prompt

Celebrate any progress. Don’t wait to get perfect.

Ann McGee-Cooper

Use the quote as a writing or thinking prompt to finish your week strong.

A bit from mine:

(posted in our Doer Entrepreneurs Free Community — off social media)

I definitely live by the "progress not perfection" mantra because perfectionism has finally become something to overcome not achieve.

I love this quote because of how much it focuses on the journey and progress. I think about how much more productive my time has been when I spend time focusing on trying, testing, learning, adjusting, trying again, etc...

Versus waiting until I have a magical amount of information or magical amount of space in my day, week, month, year, life, to try to accomplish something.

So I don't know who needs to hear this, but yes, you CAN celebrate progress, because it's infinitely more productive and important than perfectionism.

You've got this!

📌 Productivity Quick Tip

📈 Performance

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I am obsessed with evidence-based productivity and I am about as anti- ‘Woo’ as you can get…and that’s why you should take 2 minutes (the whole video is 2 min) to watch this quick video.

Manifestation is not about vibing with the universe or anything of the sort…it’s rooted in neuroscience.

⚙️ Optimization

A lot of people are underutilizing the large language model tools and this video does a great job of giving you a very interesting use case. In particular, in finding case studies for the topic you’d like to talk about. Chapters are below with time stamps.

  • 0:00 GPT-4o Techniques

  • 0:26 Business Case Study

  • 2:02 Expand Context

  • 4:24 GPT Builder

  • 8:28 Negative Prompting

⏲️ Time Management

This is an evidence-based article we wrote about time blocking including the studies behind it as well as a practical step-by-step guide into making it work for you even if you’ve resisted it until now or felt restricted by it. :)

Benefits of time blocking

Time blocking is especially useful if you:

  • Do a lot of different types of tasks on any given day

  • Struggle with work-life balance

  • Have difficulty focusing due to frequent interruptions

  • Tend to prioritize reactively versus proactively (answering emails instead of focusing on your top goal for the day, for example)

  • Frequently postpone goals due to more urgent tasks

  • Battle procrastination

💻 Tools & Technology

Keep business and personal separate — but be able to move things back and forth easily. Excerpt below. Also, I linked to Android Police instead of the Google Workspace announcement because too much of the actual announcement is about Gemini and so far…we’re not that impressed. So let’s focus on Keep :)

As explained by Google in a Workspace update, multiple accounts can now be used simultaneously within Keep on the same large-screen device. This means that, if you have a tablet or foldable, you can open a note in one account, then trigger split-screen mode to open another instance of Google Keep. In the second instance, you'll be able to switch to another Google account like your work profile to show Keep notes from both accounts side-by-side. Ultimately, this results in less interruption and more streamlined work while using the app.

🤖 AI

I’ll start with the fact that I am a big Perplexity fan. It’s my new go-to search engine largely because it actually cites its sources and lets you click directly to go check that it hasn’t hallucinated its response. And also that you trust the source it’s pulling the info from. But it’s also good to know what’s going on behind the scenes in legal battles and other goings on so I’m sharing this article to keep you up to date. Read the article so you know what’s going on!

The bottom line: Google's choices will determine the fate of publishing more than anything Perplexity can do.

  • But publishers will keep taking the fight to fast-and-loose startups because they can't wait to deal with the giants: They know AI's reshaping of their industry's rules and relationships is happening right now.

👀 Read, Watch, Listen

This week’s awesome books, YouTube videos, newsletters, etc. to add to your list!

[From Amazon:] Why do our headaches persist after we take a one-cent aspirin but disappear when we take a fifty-cent aspirin? Why do we splurge on a lavish meal but cut coupons to save twenty-five cents on a can of soup?

When it comes to making decisions in our lives, we think we're making smart, rational choices. But are we?

In this newly revised and expanded edition of the groundbreaking New York Times bestseller, Dan Ariely refutes the common assumption that we behave in fundamentally rational ways. From drinking coffee to losing weight, from buying a car to choosing a romantic partner, we consistently overpay, underestimate, and procrastinate. Yet these misguided behaviors are neither random nor senseless. They're systematic and predictable—making us predictably irrational.
