I’ve spent the last week testing out Shortform — it’s a game changer and here’s what I loved:
Get the actionable content from a book without the stories and fluff in between.
Add your own highlights and notes
It has its own app. Stop doom-scrolling on social media and replace with Shortform.
LISTEN to the guides (yes, there was audio for all the books I tested)
Shortform adds context and examples really helping turn the books into actionable content (even when the book doesn’t have an action item).
🔥Quote/Prompt
When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a certain place on the floor. It's to enjoy each step along the way.
Use the quote as a writing or thinking prompt to finish your week strong.
A bit from mine:
(posted in our Doer Entrepreneurs Free Community — off social media)
I have certainly pivoted my business multiple times and several members of my Doers Inner Circle have as well and one of the chief reasons is rooted in this quote.
We all know that running a business, no matter how much you love it, is never all rainbows and butterflies. And given that, we MUST be able to enjoy the journey, not just whatever end goal we are trying to achieve.
We need to enjoy every step along the way because, as many of you probably already know, for ambitious people, there's a really good chance that once you get to your "end goal" you'll just create a new one.
So this week, take a pause to be sure you're enjoying your journey, and if not, remember that you can change it if you want. […]

📈 Performance
Combat imposter syndrome by harnessing the power of "moxie," a unique blend of motivation, self-discipline, and persistence, particularly crucial for individuals from underrepresented backgrounds.
Key Insights:
Embrace Moxie: Moxie is a practical approach to shatter the cycle of self-doubt and enhance performance. Example: one Latina executive rapidly ascended the corporate ladder by adopting a "refuse to lose" mentality she observed in her Black colleagues.
Leverage Cultural Resilience: Unique strengths often arise from cultural hardships. Example: One Black woman board member persisted through barriers because her grandparents taught her to seize opportunities and prove her worth, thereby using her cultural resilience as a form of moxie.
Engage in Identity Play: Experimentation is key when adapting to new roles and challenges. Example: A director unfamiliar with debt financing and bond markets focused on being a learner, allowing her to grow into her role without the pressure of immediate perfection.
Assess and Redirect: Not all barriers can be overcome. Example: A director aiming for a CEO position realized that systemic barriers at her current workplace were insurmountable. She chose to leave and pursue opportunities where she could truly succeed.

What’s Your Family’s Mission Statement?
A family mission statement can be a transformative tool for achieving work-life balance, particularly in the era of remote work and pandemic-induced stress. By setting a collective mission and aligning it with individual goals, families can navigate challenges more effectively.
Key Insights:
Craft a Collective Mission: A well-articulated family mission serves as a compass, guiding each member in making decisions that align with the family's core values.
Employ SMART Goals: Utilizing Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound (SMART) criteria for setting goals ensures that family members are aligned and accountable.
Be Adaptable: When life throws curveballs, it's essential to reassess and adjust the family mission and associated goals to remain resilient.
Foster Inclusive Decision-Making: For a mission to be effective, it should be a collaborative effort, incorporating the perspectives of all family members.
⏲️ Time Management
Struggling with time management? Psychological tendencies like task completion bias and multitasking can sabotage your productivity. Here's how to take control.
Key Insights:
Beware of Small Tasks: Completing minor tasks first may feel rewarding but can push crucial projects to the backburner. This is a manifestation of task completion bias.
Single-Task, Don't Multitask: Juggling multiple tasks at once may seem efficient but actually leads to stress and poor performance. Focused, deep work is the key.
Overestimation is a Trap: We often miscalculate the time needed for tasks, leading to rushed work and stress. This is known as the planning fallacy.
Strategies for Success: Prioritize your most important task each day, break down big projects into manageable steps, and be realistic in your time estimates to optimize productivity.
💻 Tools & Technology
This isn’t your standard rundown of AI tools and to prove it, we are pulling a few of our favorites directly from the article below. The following is quoted directly from the article:
3 tools you can’t miss below. Check the article for the full list.
Rewind. “This AI tool documents everything I see through my Mac laptop or phone screens, processes it, and then allows me to back-track certain content when needed.” Useful for prolific researchers or people who see a lot of stuff. “I go through multiple pages and apps daily, and it helps me recall exactly what I need when I forget throughout the day.” Use Rewind to group content you have seen by theme, for research, presentations or your own newsletter.
Wondercraft AI. This tool, with tagline “effortless podcast creation, for the AI era,” turns written content into engaging podcast episodes. “I’ve been using the tool to turn my newsletter editions into audio versions,” said Cheung, who describes it as an, “incredible tool for creators who simply don’t have enough time to do everythings at once.”
Gamma. “Create beautiful, engaging content with none of the formatting and design work,” says the Gamma website. “This tool has been helpful when I need slide deck presentations created quickly,” said Cheung. It’s essentially an automated presentation generator that produces full presentations from a few settings and prompts. It also allows real-time edits. “The output usually requires some small changes, but the majority of the work is completed for you after the first round of prompts.”

"Atomic Habits" by James Clear is a New York Times bestseller that provides a comprehensive guide to habit formation. Clear draws from biology, psychology, and neuroscience to offer practical strategies for forming good habits and breaking bad ones. He emphasizes that small, incremental changes can lead to significant results. The book is filled with real-life examples from various fields, illustrating how mastering the science of habits can lead to success. It offers actionable tips on time management, motivation, and environmental design to help individuals and organizations achieve their goals.
🎉Weekly Win
I sent a client an email yesterday withdrawing from translation jobs for a certain end client. Although these jobs bring me 10-20% of my monthly income, they often take a long time to do and I would have had to participate in a new on-boarding process that was even more onerous. Now I can use that time to accept jobs that are more enjoyable and that I’m better at, with fewer hoops to jump through, or even dedicate more time to pursuing my real passion, helping women who’ve escaped from abusive relationships take back their power.
